Police Blotter for May 15

The following incidents were listed in the official reports of the Lincolnwood Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest by police does not constitute a finding of guilt; only a court of law can make that determination.
Paul Roman L. Africa, 32, of 4859 N. Tripp Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 6:17 p.m. May 10 and charged with drug possession, driving without a valid drivers license, possession of drug paraphernalia and operating and uninsured vehicle. Africa was arrested while driving on the 5100 block of Devon Avenue after police on patrol said they could smell marijuana emanating from the vehicle.
DUI
Jason Jeske, 35, of 3805 S. Morse Ave., Lincolnwood, was arrested on the 4200 block of Devon Avenue at 2:15 a.m. May 12 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Jeske was stopped when police observed his vehicle cross the yellow center line. Jeske also was charged with improper lane use and driving with an expired registration.
BURGLARY
Someone broke into a home on the 6600 block of Longmeadow Avenue between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. April 26. The garage door had been opened and numerous rooms had been searched. A safe and candlestick holders of undetermined value were missing.
THEFT
Shahina D. Kadva, 22 of 4950 N. Harding Ave., Chicago, was charged with theft after her arrest at the Lincolnwood Town Center Kohl’s at 1:43 p.m. May 2. Security said Kadva tried to leave the store without purchasing $163 in jewelry.
Aruintuya Ocherbat, 42, of 3441 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., Chicago, was charged with theft after her arrest at the Lincolnwood Town Center Carson’s at 6:40 p.m. May 2. Security said Ochirbat tried to leave the store without purchasing a $9.50 pair of panties.
Ashley Hargreaves, 18, of 3348 W. Hutchinson Ave., Chicago, was charged with theft after her arrest at the Lincolnwood Town Center Claire’s at 8:48 p.m. May 2. Security said Hargreaves tried to leave the store without purchasing a $18.50 hair extension accessory.
Ireen J. Wasson, 48, of 8459 Latrobe, Skokie, was charged with theft after her arrest at Carson’s at 12:28 p.m. May 3. Security said Wasson tried to leave the store without purchasing a $45 bracelet.
Jules A. Lemond, 26, of 1927 Jackson St., Evanston, was charged with theft after his arrest at Kohl’s at 3:10 p.m. May 3. Security said Lemond tried to leave the store without purchasing a $50 men’s necklace.
Juanita Castillo-Sanchez, 28, of 7000 N. California Ave., Chicago, was charged with theft after her arrest at Kohl’s at 3:10 p.m. May 3. Security said Castilo-Sanchez tried to leave the store without purchasing two bras worth $64.
Minerva E. Velasquez, 139 Ashland Ave., Evanston, was charged with theft after her arrest at Kohl’s at 5:12 p.m. May 4. Security said Velasquez tried to leave the store without purchasing a woman’s tank top and two rings worth $80 total.
Laua K. Garay, 22, of 5717 N. Maplewood St., Chicago, was charged with theft after her arrest at Kohl’s at 2:09 p.m. May 6. Security said Garay tried to leave the store without purchasing three capri pants, children’s toys, socks and bras worth $150.
