LINCOLNWOOD — Lincolnwood Police haven’t released any new information about the circumstances surrounding the death of 62-year-old Judd R. Horwitz, of Lincolnwood, who was jogging Aug. 18 on the 7000 block of Lincoln Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle.

Horwitz, a Certified Public Accountant and owner of Judd R. Horwitz & Co., PC, in Lincolnwood, was likely jogging on the street when he was hit at 5:20 a.m. by a vehicle traveling south, said Lincolnwood Police Lt. John Walsh.

Horwitz had been jogging in the same direction the vehicle was traveling, Walsh said.

“It’s still an ongoing investigation, and there’s no certainty to any of this yet,” Walsh said. “A determining factor will be the medical examiner’s report, which we’re still waiting on.”

The driver of the vehicle that struck Horwitz immediately pulled over and called 911. He was cited for striking a pedestrian, according to police.

Memorial services arranged by Chicago Jewish Funerals were held Aug. 21 at New Light Cemetery at 6807 N. East Prairie in Lincolnwood.

Horwitz is survived by his wife, Alyson, his children, Seth Horwitz and Ben (Diana) Horwitz; his brother, Steven (Donna) Horwitz; and sister, Clare Abruscato.

Family members could not immediately be reached for comment.

Memorial contributions may be made to Streetwise, 4554 N. Broadway St., Chicago 60640; or to Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School, 3751 N. Broadway St., Chicago 60613.
