Outage hits 436 ComEd customers in Lincolnwood, but power’s back on for most

LINCOLNWOOD — About 436 ComEd customers in Lincolnwood lost power starting at around 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, but power had been restored to all but 58 of those customers by 10:15 a.m., according to Public Works Department officials.
The outages were likely a result of this morning’s heavy storms that rolled across the Chicago metropolitan areas and caused 183,000 ComEd customers to lose power during the peak of the outages.
The areas of Lincolnwood that were still affected by outages as of 12 p.m. (according to a map provided by ComEd) include residential areas on Keeler and Morse avenues, on Kedvale and Pratt avenues, near Karlov Avenue and West North Shore Avenue, and on West North Shore Avenue between Hamlin and North Lawndale Avenues.
No traffic lights were reported to be out in the village of Lincolnwood, and within four hours of when the outages began, power had been restored to 87 percent of customers who lost power, according to Ashley Engelmann, assistant to the Public Works director.
No trees were reported to have fallen in the Lincolnwood area, but branches were scattered everywhere as a result of the wind and heavy rain.
ComEd did not provide an estimate of when the existing outages would be repaired.
“We have more than 340 crews working to restore power throughout the service area,” said John Choen, a spokesman for ComEd. “We still have a number of outages, and the crews are working to assess the damage and work on restoring power to those customers.”
