Police Blotter

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Skokie and Lincolnwood police departments. Readers are reminded that an arrest by police does not constitute a finding of guilt; only a court of law can make that determination.

Skokie

BURGLARY

Five storage areas were broken into just after midnight May 28 in a building on the 7800 block of Lamon Avenue. Force was used on the west door leading to a common area. It was unknown at the time what was taken.

A reported burglary attempt took place between 5:57 a.m. and 6 a.m. May 27 at Best Buy in Village Crossing on the 5400 block of Touhy Avenue. Police said large banging noises were heard from the rear bay and garage of the store. A surveillance camera showed six subjects entering the bay area, although no items were reported taken at the time. The case is still under investigation.

Currency of $100 was taken between midnight and 10 a.m. May 26 from a vehicle parked on the 4900 block of Davis Street. The money as well as an insurance card that were taken were located inside the glove compartment. The vehicle doors may have been left unlocked, police said.

An unlocked vehicle was entered between 6:30 p.m. May 25 and 10 a.m. May 26 while parked on the 5300 block of Suffield Court. Nothing was reported missing at the time.

A sports bag valued at $30 and containing headphones valued at $200, ankle bracelets valued at $40 and miscellaneous other items were taken between 11:30 p.m. May 25 and 8:30 a.m. May 26 while parked on the 5100 block of Suffield Court. The vehicle’s glove box and other areas were ransacked.

Eight music compact discs valued at $80 were taken between 7 p.m. May 25 and 7:30 a.m. May 26 from a vehicle parked on the 9000 block of Laramie Avenue. The center console and the glove box were ransacked, police said.

A Global Positioning System navigation unit charger valued at $10 was taken between 5:30 p.m. May 24 and 6:45 a.m. May 25 from a vehicle parked on the 5100 block of Church Street. Police said the passenger’s side door was broken out to gain entry.

DUI

Dankha Antar, 57, of 228 Magnolia St., Des Plaines, is scheduled to appear in court June 18 on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol stemming from an incident at about 12:57 p.m. May 26 on the 5400 block of Touhy Avenue. He also was cited with improper lane usage.

THEFT

A radar detector valued at $500 and a GPS navigation unit valued at $300 were taken between noon and 1:30 p.m. May 29 from a vehicle parked in Buffalo Wild Wings in Village Crossing on the 7000 block of Carpenter Road. Police said a window was broken out to gain entry.

CD’s, DVD’s and jewelry valued at $1,500 were taken between 3 p.m. May 13 and 11 a.m. May 14 from a public storage area on the 8200 block of Skokie Boulevard.

An air conditioning unit valued at $400, various action figures valued at $350, a scooter valued at $100 and glass bowls valued at $120 were taken between 6 p.m. May 27 and 7 p.m. May 28 from the front yard of a residence on the 8200 block of Kilbourn Avenue. Police said the items were taken after the garage sale and were covered under a tarp.

Kimberly Mitchell, 39, of 4852 Hull St., Skokie, is scheduled to appear in court June 29 on a felony retail theft charge stemming from an incident between 1:45 p.m. and 2 p.m. May 27 in Old Navy on the 9400 block of Skokie Boulevard. Police said Mitchell tried to leave the store without paying for merchandise valued at about $200.

A tablet computer valued at $400 was taken between the afternoon of May 26 from the Jewel grocery store on the 9400 block of Skokie Boulevard. Police said the tablet was taken from the men’s washroom.

A cell phone valued at nearly $300 was taken between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. May 25 from a fitting room at Lane Bryant on the 9400 block of Skokie Boulevard.

Dimitrios Diamondopoulos, 57, of 8606 N. Oketo Ave., Niles, is scheduled to appear in court June 29 on a retail theft charge stemming from an incident between 5:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. May 25 in Marshalls on the 9400 block of Skokie Boulevard. Police said Diamondopoulos tried to leave the store without paying for merchandise valued at about $40.

A laptop computer valued at $2,400 was taken between 2:15 p.m. and 2:47 p.m. May 25 from a vacant store at Westfield Old Orchard. Police said construction work is currently going on at the site.

Twenty-seven pairs of pants valued at $2,106 were taken between 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. May 24 from a store at the Old Orchard mall. Police said the pants were on a display table.

Lincolnwood

BURGLARY

A Hewlett Packard financial calculator was reported stolen from a vehicle parked on a driveway on the 6900 block of Knox Avenue between 8:30 p.m. May 28 and 8:30 a.m. May 29. The offender or offenders entered the vehicle through an unlocked door, according to police.

A Garmin GPS unit was reported stolen from a vehicle parked on a driveway on the 6800 block of Knox Avenue between 9 p.m. May 28 and 7:30 a.m. May 29. The offender or offenders entered the vehicle through an unlocked door, according to police. The vehicle’s registration card and insurance card were also reported stolen, and $3 in change.

Four bicycles valued at $900 total were reported stolen from the 6500 block of St. Louis Avenue between 9:30 p.m. May 23 and 5:30 a.m. May 24. The unknown offender or offenders entered a residential garage through an unlocked side door, according to police.

Four bicycles valued at $1,330 total were reported stolen from the 6500 block of Drake Avenue between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. May 23. The offender or offenders entered an unlocked residential garage, according to police.

DUI

Isen Y. Pathio, 20, of 3915 Loyola Ave., Lincolnwood, was arrested on the 7700 block of McCormick Boulevard at 3:30 a.m. June 2 and charged with driving under the influence of drugs. Pathio was also charged with operating an uninsured motor vehicle, improper lane use and failure to yield/stop when turning right.

Rigel K.B. Gabuya, 30, of 3941 N. Pine Grove Ave., Chicago, was arrested on the 6500 block of Cicero Avenue at 1:58 a.m. June 3 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol level greater than .08. Gabuya also was charged with failure to stop at an intersection.

Vicente Enriquez, 44, of 2535 N. Lockwood Ave., Chicago, was arrested on the 6500 block of McCormick Boulevard at 1:52 a.m. June 4 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol level greater than .08, and aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol. Enriquez was also charged with driving without insurance and improper lane usage.

Richard Olsen, 56, of 1519 W. Farwell Ave., Chicago, was arrested on the 3300 block of Touhy Avenue at 11:52 p.m. May 22 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Olsen was also charged with improper lane use and driving with a suspended license.

Steven Nemeth, 27, of 7718 Monroe St., Niles, was arrested on the 4200 block of Touhy Avenue at 3:20 a.m. May 20 and charged with driving under the influence, driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level greater than .08, improper lane usage and failure to use turn signal.

Ivo Franco, 43, of 2057 W. Chase Ave., Chicago, was arrested on the 4700 block of Touhy Avenue at 1:35 a.m. May 21 and charged with driving under the influence, driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level greater than .08, improper lane usage and failure to use turn signal.

THEFT

Omolara Odetola, 39, of 2216 W. Thome Ave., Chicago, was charged with theft after her arrest at the Lincolnwood Town Center Carson’s at 8:55 p.m. May 22. Security said Odetola tried to leave the store without purchasing $210 in jewelry and an electronic merchandise card valued at $492.

Margarita Aguinaga-Silva, 29, of 1666 W. Pratt Ave., Chicago, was charged with theft after her arrest at the Lincolnwood Town Center Carson’s at 3:01 p.m. May 19. Security said Aguinaga-Silva tried to leave the store without paying for $112 in merchandise.

Adam Bogdanov, 21, of 2900 Weller Lane, Northbrook, was charged with theft after his arrest at the Lincolnwood Town Center Claire’s at 7:05 p.m. May 19. Security said Bogdanov tried to leave the store without paying for a necklace valued at $18.50.

Keisha Dacres, 26, of 6221 N. Francisco Ave., Chicago, was charged with theft after her arrest at the Lincolnwood Town Center Claire’s at 3:54 p.m. May 19. Security said Dacres tried to leave the store with several pairs of earrings valued at $10.50.

Merlyn Salins, 51, of 6302 N. Oakley Ave., Chicago, was charged with theft after her arrest at the Lincolnwood Town Center Kohl’s at 10:01 a.m. May 20. Security said Salins tried to leave the store without purchasing $145.99 in merchandise.

DRUGS

Rick Rendon, 19, of 7400 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, was arrested at 6:46 p.m. May 17 and charged with drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. Rendon was arrested after police on patrol said they could smell marijuana emanating from the vehicle.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

A window was reported broken at a residence in the 3900 block of Estes Avenue between 8 p.m. on May 24 and 1 p.m. on May 25. The window appeared to have been broken with an unknown object, according to police.

The back window of a vehicle was reported broken on the 6500 block of Springfield Avenue between 1 p.m. and 2:25 p.m. May 28. The vehicle was parked outside of a residence, and the window had been smashed by an unknown means, according to police.
