Police Blotter for Feb. 6

The following incidents were listed in the official reports of the Lincolnwood Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest by police does not constitute a finding of guilt; only a court of law can make that determination.

BURGLARY

A resident who parked a car on the 6700 block of Lawndale Avenue said her car was ransacked between 3 p.m. Jan. 31 and 7:50 a.m. Feb. 1, with $27 in cash reported stolen. The owner said the car likely was unlocked.

A man whose locked car was parked on the 6700 block of St. Louis Avenue said his car was entered and ransacked between 11 p.m. Jan. 31 and 8 a.m. Feb. 1, with an iPod inside stolen. There was some damage to an inside door panel but no other signs of entry to the car.

DUI

Tho V. Duong, 35, of 4642 Fitch Ave., was arrested at 12:42 a.m. Jan. 30 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Police said they saw a car driven by Duong speed on westbound Devon Avenue and change lanes without signaling. Duong also was charged with speeding, changing lanes without signalling, driving without a license on his person and failing to notify the Secretary of State of a change of address.

THEFT

Raghdah B. Baha, 24, of 6414 Kimball Ave., was arrested at 3:43 p.m. Jan. 31 at the Lincolnwood Town Center Kohl’s and charged with felony retail theft. Store security said Baha was detained after allegedly leaving the store without paying for clothing and jewelry valued at more than $970.

Lina I. Saad, 22, of 5215 N. Virginia Ave., Chicago, was arrested at Kohl’s at 11:05 a.m. Jan. 31 and charged with theft. Store security said Saad was detained after allegedly leaving the store without paying for $185 worth of clothing.

An employee for Noerr Programs Corp., a Colorado business, said a $1,000 camera the company keeps in a locked area at Lincolnwood Town Center was stolen sometime between Dec. 24 and Jan. 30. The camera is used by the company to take official shopping center photos during holiday season promotions.

An internal investigation by the Lincolnwood Town Center Old Navy resulted in the arrest of Heriberto Cintron, Jr., 27, of 7226 N. Rogers Ave., Chicago, who was charged with theft. Police said the investigation allegedly revealed that Cintron, an employee at the store, had stolen about $500 worth of merchandise between Dec. 19 and Jan. 19, and shipped it to relatives. The report stated Cintron admitted he had stolen about this amount monthly from the store since 2010, totalling about $9,000 worth of merchandise.

Faride Y. Shiba, 56, of 3745 W. Devon Ave., Chicago, was arrested at the Lincolnwood Town Center Carson’s store at 12:41 p.m. Jan. 27 and charged with theft. A store security agent said Shiba left the store without paying for $127 worth of men’s underwear and a towel she took from shelves.

Sudha N. Shah, 68, of 1930 Loyola Ave., Chicago, was arrested at Carson’s at 4:55 p.m. Jan. 27 and charged with theft. A security agent at the store said Shah tried to leave Carson’s without paying for gloves and a gold bracelet worth $128.

Omar M. Syed, 23, of 6431 Claremont Ave., Chicago, was arrested at Carson’s at 7:05 p.m. Jan. 28 and charged with theft. A store security agent said Syed had put clothing, shoes and a steam iron, worth $203, in a backpack he was wearing and left the store without paying for them.

Irina Berezina, 34, of 6148 Francisco Ave., Chicago, was arrested at Kohl’s at 3 p.m. Jan. 29 and charged with theft. A security agent there said she tried to leave the store without paying for a $32 nightgown.

Damaria Ortiz, 50, of 2038 W. Jarvis Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 3:10 p.m. Jan. 29 at Carson’s and charged with theft. A security agent said she bought some items from Kohl’s, went back in the store, put four more items of clothing worth $229 in the bag, and tried to leave the store without paying for the additional clothes.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

Residents on the 6600 block of Crawford Avenue discovered the front window of their house broken at 9:05 p.m. Jan. 25 after being away for an hour and a half. Two large concrete bricks were found on the living room floor by the window. However, nothing was reported stolen from the home.
