The following incidents were listed in the official reports of the Lincolnwood Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest by police does not constitute a finding of guilt; only a court of law can make that determination.
FLEEING
Two juveniles from Chicago, ages 15 and 16, were cited for numerous violations, including fleeing and eluding police, after Lincolnwood police pursued them on suspicion of driving a stolen car at about 7:50 p.m. Jan. 18 on the 3600 block of Devon Avenue. Police said they saw a car drive from a Shell station on Devon Avenue with the driver failing to signal or put on a seat belt. When they tried to pull the car over on Pulaski, the car initally slowed and then took off again at a high speed. Police pursued the car through an alley at Karlov and Peterson, then broke off the chase when the car drove through a red light at Cicero and then into oncoming traffic to avoid arrest. On the way back to the station, police spotted the car again on westbound Foster Avenue and pursued it again until it was driven to a stop on the 5400 block of Milwaukee in Chicago. After the arrest of both juveniles in the car, the vehicle was discovered to have been reported stolen from a woman in Chicago. Both were given juvenile court charges of fleeing and eluding, driving without a license, driving without a seat belt, disobeying a traffic signal and failure to signal. The two were turned over to Chicago police for questioning about the vehicle.
