The following items were discussed and/or acton on at the Village of Lincolnwood Board of Trustees meeting Jan. 17
An ordinance granting special sign approval and a variation in the Village zoning code was approved to allow the replacement of a pole and pylon sign at the BMO Harris Bank located at 6820 N. Lincoln Avenue. The proposed pole and pylon replacement sign will be located in the same location as the existing Harris Bank sign, but because of its classification as a “special sign” the bank representatives were required to seek the board’s approval.
It was noted that the proposed sign will be located within the required 50 feet interior side lot line setback, which is in compliance with Village-mandated setback requirements. Harris Bank requested replacement of the pole and pylon sign as part of a rebranding initiative.
Trustees approved a recommendation by the Parks and Recreation Board to award a bid to Continental Construction Company, Inc. of Evanston in the amount of $640,417 for Phase II of the Improvement Project to Channel Runne Park. Phase I of the ongoing project—which included renovation and realignment of the bike path running through the 19 acre park—was completed in 2008. Phase II is expected to be completed by late September of this year, Trustee Lawrence Elster said. Plans for the second phase include the development of an outdoor amphitheatre, an accessible pathway to the water, a disc gold course, a fishing area with boat access, a bike and pedestrian park entrance, a parking lot with 37 spaces, landscaping and a sign identifying the entrance to the park at McCormick and Touhy Avenues.
It was noted that construction costs for Phase II will be budgeted between two fiscal years, and half of the total cost of Phase II will be funded by an Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant from the state. The Village will apply for the grant following completion of the project, Trustee Elster said.
Trustees also discussed adding an additional $15,000 to the cost of Phase II to pay for an additional smaller sign on the Devon Avenue entrance, but that motion was rejected.
The next Village Board meeting will be held February 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Lincolnwood Village Hall, 6900 N. Lincoln Ave.
