Skokie boy, killed in crash, remembered as ‘sweet, sensitive’
Prosecutors said Wednesday that 23-year-old Hanin Goma of Skokie admitted she had smoked pot hours before causing the chain-reaction crash that killed an 8-year-old Skokie boy. Goma has been charged with one count of felony aggravated DUI resulting in death.

New site owner wants to preserve Purple Hotel
Lincolnwood’s Purple Hotel, empty since 2007, was sold at auction Friday to buyers who want to preserve the structure, which boasts a past as colorful as its unusual bricks. North Capital Group LLC bought the building and its surrounding 8.5 acres for $8.3 million.The buyer has been working with Weiss Properties Inc. of Skokie on plans to use the old hotel at 4500 W. Touhy as a centerpiece for commercial expansion.
