Girls Basketball: Loyd wins last home game as Wolves roll to regional title
GIRLS BASKETBALL: In the final home game of her storied four-year career, Jewell Loyd poured in all 23 of her points in the first half and took only a two-minute curtain call after the break as Niles West demolished Lincoln Park 67-37 Friday to win its third straight regional title.

Boys Basketball: Deerfield applies the brakes to Niles North offense
BOYS BASKETBALL: Niles North and Deerfield prefer to play at radically different styles. The Vikings want to run, while the Warriors want to play at a much slower pace. The visiting Warriors controlled the pace for about three and a half quarters, but in crunch time, Niles North sped things up and came back from a late four-point deficit to win 55-51 in the final Central Suburban League North game of the year.

GIRLS BASKETBALL: Niles North coach Dan Paxson struggled to find words to comfort his players after they suffered a season-ending loss to Maine South in the Vikings’ own regional final last week. He wanted more for the team’s five seniors, especially Alissa Hirsh and Mariyah Henley, who each played four seasons on varsity under Paxson.
