More than 200 dancers will be “Movin’ to Motown” during the 13th annual Devonshire Dance Recital on Sunday, June 10, at Niles West High School, 5701 Oakton St., Skokie. They are all students in the Skokie Park District’s dance classes. Dancers as young as 3 will perform at 1 p.m.; older children at 4 p.m. The Devonshire Dance Ensemble, the park district’s dance troupe, will perform at both shows.
Cultural Arts Supervisor Caryn Watson reported that dance styles will cover “the whole gamut,” including ballet, hip-hop, modern, lyrical, jazz and tap. Performers will dance to a wide range of popular Motown tunes, from “Isn’t She Lovely?” to “I’ll Be There,” “Baby Love,” “Tears of a Clown,” “My Girl” and “Tracks of My Tears.”
It’s a great family event because, “Kids can relate to the kids on stage,” Watson said.
Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at the door.
